Santa Cruz Island Day Trip
Friday night, people head up to spend the night, should they choose. They should stay somewhere near the Island Packers Boat Company. Need to stay near the one in Ventura.
Sat AM:  We meet at Island Packers at 7:00-7:15am for a 8:00am departure. They want you there 45 min prior so we should meet no later than 7:15am. People should buy their tickets online beforehand. There is a $5 discount for those 55+. Boats leave Santa Cruz Island at 4PM or 5PM for us to make it back 45 minutes later.
Once on the island, about 1/2 hour after we land, there is guided interpretive hike that’s offered on Cavern Point Trail at no charge that we could start with. Then we can hike on our own as a group once that’s done, later picnic when we get hungry, and check out the Visitor Center at the Scorpion Ranch House.  We are still looking at which areas we can hike to.
You have to bring all your own stuff for the day, which includes water/drinks and food, so people should bring a small cooler bag and something for sustenance for the day: lunch and snacks, bars, trail mix, whatever.
Dress in layers, bring sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc.
Here’s some good info on what to pack that we should send out:
This Guide is very informative:

There is a signup sheet for those who want to go.
It is a good idea to obtain your tickets for the boat ride as soon as possible.  There are still plenty of tickets for the 8AMdeparture from Ventura but the 9AM tickets are ALL sold out.  I was told these tickets will sell out.  As for departing the island, we will depart at 5PM but there are still a few tickets left for the 4PM departure in case you want to leave earlier.
As for what camera equipment to bring, it is best to travel light.  More details on this to come.
